SPOT Gen4 gives you a critical, life-saving line of communication when you travel beyond the boundaries of reliable cellular service. SPOT Gen4 lets family, friends, and colleagues know you are OK, or if the unexpected should happen, sends your GPS location to emergency responders all with the push of a button. Add this rugged, pocket-sized device to your essential gear and stay connected wherever you play or work.
SPOT released a few improvements to its mapping software in concurrence with the Gen4, offering more shareable, robust data capabilities through the online interface. An individual SPOT Map can be created per rental, allowing you to share this with loved ones.
In a non-life-threatening situation where assistance is needed, this button allows you to request help from a preset contact list without triggering an emergency rescue.
This is the most important and (hopefully) least-used button on the device. A touch of the SOS button alerts your pre selected primary and secondary contacts. Alternatively, for an additional fee, the SOS can be linked to the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC), which then notifies the appropriate emergency responders based on your GPS location and personal information.
Thanks to a vibration sensor that allows the Gen4 to track and send location info only when the device is in motion, the Gen4 is able to save battery when not in motion. This translates to industry-leading battery life that SPOT claims will last for roughly 1,200 check-in messages, or 436 hours when set to 10-minute tracking intervals.
It runs on four AAA batteries that are NOT provided with the rental, but are very easy to insert using a coin or flat screwdriver to undo the four small screws.
Please note: we are only able to ship rental products to South African addresses.
